![]() Time Adjusters – by Bill Ectric Review by Julie Carpenter Conquistadors at Fat Tuesdays? Cave people working the docks? Ronald Reagan trying to sell antibacterial liquid soap? Things get pretty strange when the insurance industry goes too far in its pursuit of profits. Take this loopy ride with Bill Ectric in his new story Time Adjusters. Ectric cleverly places an insurance underwriter, possibly the most underutilized protagonist in modern literature, at the heart of an interesting and complex narrative that questions the ultimate effects of the corporate quest for money (and the immense power over democracy they casually acquire as a means to that end). The story is set in the eighties and is part action/thriller, part science fiction, and part romance with a comic twist. It’s difficult to explain the concept without giving too much away but give your mind a vacation from its current spot on the space time continuum and check it out. The short story is a another interesting dive into the mind of Bill Ectric, a strange and strangely comfortable place to be.
